Our Mission in Action SCR Kenya

Facilitating Sustainable Development for Thriving Communities

Support for Community Response (SCR) is a Kenyan NGO, founded in 2009, dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities in Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa, Vihiga, Kisii, and Nyamira through grassroots health, relief, and development initiatives.

Our Guiding Principles

Anchored in integrity, professionalism, and community trust, these principles shape our mission to build sustainable, resilient communities across Kenya.

We champion fair access to resources and opportunities, embracing diversity and respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals, especially the most vulnerable.

Strategic Collaboration

We build lasting partnerships with governments, organizations, and communities to maximize resources, drive innovation, and amplify impact.

Health and Wellbeing for All

We promote access to safe water, sanitation, nutrition, and healthcare—foundations for thriving, self-reliant communities.

Economic Empowerment

We support individuals—especially women and youth—to build livelihoods through skills training, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion.

Innovation and Learning

We adapt to emerging challenges through continuous learning, evidence-based solutions, and embracing community-driven innovations like climate-smart agriculture.

"Transforming Lives, One Community at a Time"

A Message from Our Founders

When we founded SCR in 2009, we envisioned a future where no community would be left behind. Over the past 15 years, we have walked hand in hand with marginalized families across Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa, Nyamira, Kisii, and Vihiga—transforming despair into hope, and challenges into opportunities. Our journey has been rooted in the strength of community-led resilience. We have empowered mothers to raise healthier children, equipped young people with the skills to lead, and championed the inclusion of every voice in the pursuit of sustainable development. We’ve seen firsthand the power of collective action: households once struggling with malnutrition now enjoy food security, and women who were once unheard now lead thriving microenterprises.
This is not just the story of SCR—it’s the story of thousands of Kenyans who dared to believe in a better future. Together, we’ve shown that with compassion, innovation, and unwavering commitment, we can break the cycle of poverty and build lasting change.
